There was a chapel service on Sunday at Fair Oaks Lodge with chapel and bean bag toss on Monday. Tuesday brought bingo, chapel and telling jokes while on Wednesday ball games, crafts and Immanuel Communion took place.

Wild times on stormy seas Settle in to hear an interesting story told by Manny Sousa, the guy who lived it and hasn’t forgotten one thing. Manuel (Manny) Sousa was born in 1924 in Summerville, Mass., to Manuel and Mary Sousa who were Portuguese. He was the oldest in a family of 11 children, which may have had something to do with his joining the Navy when he was 16.

Nineteen nearly lost to history Doris Sophia Johnson was buried in Pioneer Cemetery 110 years ago, but she is not forgotten. The girl who died Nov. 30, 1899, at age 1 now has a marker for her tiny grave years after the original turned to dust.

White recalls a killer flu that killed millions This week I visited with new friend, Florence White. She was born in St. Cloud in 1912 to Paul and Frances Porwell, who came from Poland. Paul was a stonecutter at a place who made monuments in St. Cloud. She had twin sisters and a brother.
