Big bucks for Bluffton area 
A great turnout helped the Bluffton Tornado Benefit on July 30 double up on its goal. The original goal was to raise $8,000 to 10,000 for those affected by the Bluffton tornado, according to Keith Goeller, one of the organizers. With donations still coming in, they have more then doubled what was intended with estimates of the donations at $20,000. More than 700 people were served at the benefit.

This time: hail, more wind
A damaging hail storm on Saturday, July 17 was merely the latest episode in a month plagued by severe weather and multiple tornado warnings. For the extended Huttunen family and other residents north of Wadena and Bluffton, the heavy rain and large hailstones dropping into their property were only the tip of the iceberg.

Free open swimming offered to kids

BLUFFTON, MINN. – Sue and Tim Volkmann rushed home from their daughters’ volleyball tournament on Thursday to find little home actually left. A tornado that raged through the area late Thursday afternoon left their farm about a mile north of here in shambles.
