Two big programs coming up at the library

The Wadena City Library will be hosting Lorna Landvik, a Minnesota best-selling author, at the library at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14. Tickets are free but seating is limited. Visit the library to get up to two tickets with your valid library card. Landvik is part of the Kitchi Reads/Kitchi Writes project through the Kitchigami Regional Library, and is funded by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment.

• The Rossy Roundup Golf Tourney recently raised $600 for Wadena’s Area Youth Baseball program. The tourney was played at Whitetail Run Golf Course in Wadena. • Casey’s General Store donated $1,000 and a Gatorade cooler, water bottles and mix worth $500 to the Wadena-Deer Creek Schools’ athletic program. Wadena resident Rick Price won the “High School Hero” contest sponsored by Casey’s General Stores. When Price won the contest, he chose Wadena-Deer Creek Schools’ athletic program to be the recipient of the money and prizes. The presentation was made before the WDC volleyball game on Oct. 20. Present at the formal presentation included: Price; Brian Silbernick, WDC activities director; LaNay Whitaker, Wadena Casey’s General Store manager; and Ann Reurink, Casey’s General Stores area supervisor.
