Verndale volleyers celebrate season

Trista Finck earned Offensive MVP honors and Teresa Moenkedick was named Defensive MVP for the 2009 Verndale Pirates Volleyball Team.

Finck, a three-year letterwinner, was joined by Brittany Kern as an all-conference selection. Finck had 150 kills and 141 digs while Kern had 193 set assists and 27 ace serves.

Elizabeth Johnson converted 94 percent of her serves for a team-high.

The Pirates went 2-4 in conference play and finished 13-17 overall.

Receiving all-conference honorable mention were Crystal Haskin, Jamie Kern and Ashley Richter.

Other team awards went to Haskin (Most Dependable, Team Player), Brittany Kern (Table Setter), Richter and Heather Hejhal (Hustle), Misty Uselman (Spirit) and Jordanna Schluttner (Most Improved).
