A New York Mills area woman was killed Saturday, Sept. 26 when her car collided with a truck hauling potatoes.
A New York Mills area woman was killed Saturday, Sept. 26 when her car collided with a truck hauling potatoes.
Delilah Gay Perala, 36, was killed Saturday when a semi-truck broadsided her car on Highway 106 in Otter Tail County. Perala was transported to Tri-County Hospital in Wadena, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The driver of the truck, Daryl Lewis Trites of Dent was listed in stable condition at Tri-County Hospital.
The accident happened two miles south of Highway 10 where Otter Tail County Highway 142 meets State Highway 106.
The accident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The passenger car, driven by the victim, was east bound on County Road 142. According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, the car failed to yield and was broadsided by the potato truck.
The victim was ejected from the car, according to the report, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trites was trapped in the truck, and was extricated by emergency crews, New York Mills Fire & Rescue, State Troopers, and Tri-County Ambulance.
