Raiders open at Wild Oats

Amos Schmidt was first in the 300 hurdles and second in the 110 hurdles last Tuesday as Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale opened the track and field season in the Wild Oats Open.

Amos Schmidt was first in the 300 hurdles and second in the 110 hurdles last Tuesday as Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale opened the track and field season in the Wild Oats Open.

Schmidt ran a winning 43.01 in the 300 to edge Fergus Falls’ Chase Kolle. It was Kolle beating Schmidt’s time of 17 seconds flat in the 110 hurdles with a 16.67.

The Raider boys also took top honors in the 4x200 relay with a 1:39.

Ryan Demars took runner-up honors in the long jump for BHV with a 17-8 ½.

Josh Farber tied for third in the high jump by tying Otter Tail Central’s Chris Mortenson with a 5-4 effort.

Hannah Barrett paced the Raiders in the girls’ meet with a third in the 300 hurdles (56.62) and a sixth in the 100 hurdles (19.90).

Janessa Weaver gave the Raiders a fourth place throw of 29-2 in the shot put.

The Raiders also picked up a fourth in the 4x200 relay with a 2:03.72.

Morgan Kapphahn’s 13-8 gave her a fifth place finish in the long jump.
