Connie Claire Szarke, award-winning Minnesota author, has completed a literary/historical fiction trilogy; several of the settings include Central and Southwestern Minnesota. Delicate Armor is a coming of age family saga set in the 1950s.
Lady in the Moon, A Novel in Stories, covers lives of various people and a couple of dogs, memories that serve as positive lessons for Callie Lindstrom while on a road trip home with her elderly father.
A Stone for Amer, called by Dave Wood of the National Book Critics Circle, "a fascinating drama of the Midwestern ethos," features a gifted 1919 homesteader working hard to make a go of it in Eastern Montana. This trilogy set appeals to men, women, and young adults, twelve and up.
Her two stand-alone short stories: "Stone Wall," set in Ireland, and "Omertà," set in Sicily.
Available for community reads, book club gatherings, library events and organizational groups, Szarke's presentation, entitled "Elements of Fiction," includes music and audience participation.
She will be attending the Wadena Christmas Festival on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Wadena Deer-Creek Elementary School and Auditorium.
