Annual Season of Lights honors loved ones, raises money for Hospice

Close to 200 people attended Lakewood Health System's 16th annual Season of Lights ceremony, Dec. 5 at the CentraCare Health System-Long Prairie Chapel and Dec. 6 at Lakewood Care Center, Staples.

The Season of Lights is an opportunity to sponsor an illuminated tree light in remembrance of a loved one and to help raise money in support of Lakewood's Hospice and Palliative Care programs, which provide resources, care and support for people with terminal illnesses, their caregivers and families.

The $7,502 in proceeds that were raised from the event will go toward the creation of a hospice room at the Lakewood Care Center. The room will be part of a larger-scale project to renovate the Care Center, which is being funded through donations to the Lakewood Health System Capital Campaign.

Season of Lights is sponsored by the Lakewood Hospice and Palliative Care programs and the Lakewood Health System Foundation, which funds community health and wellness initiatives through charitable gifts.

Individuals interested in donating to the Lakewood Health System Capital Campaign to renovate the Care Center can do so online at or by calling Heidi Chapman, Foundation Director at (218) 894-8503. All donations are tax deductible.
