In the spirit of Thanksgiving and helping provide food to our friends and neighbors, the Wadena-Deer Creek band and choir students are holding a food drive for the Wadena County Food Shelf at their upcoming concert Nov. 22 in the Wadena Memorial Auditorium. Collection boxes will be located in the Auditorium foyer and the cafeteria hallway. Please consider donating items to help replenish food shelf items.

The Wadena County Food Shelf provided a list of suggested food items to donate, such as peanut butter, tuna, soups, cereals, canned fruits and vegetables, and macaroni and rice products. Any non-perishable items such as toilet paper, Kleenex and paper towels are needed as well.

According to food shelf volunteer Mary Ann Hagen, the number of families and individuals using the Wadena County Food Shelf has increased this past year. "And with the economy, I do not foresee it's going to decrease," said Hagen.

Sixth through eighth grade band students and seventh through eighth grade choir students will present a variety of music starting at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22 in the Auditorium. The public is encouraged to attend and your generosity toward the food shelf is greatly appreciated!
