Zella O. Chase, age 92, of Parkers Prairie, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at St. Williams Living Center in Parkers Prairie.
A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Folden Lutheran Church in Folden Township with Rev. Rud Wasson, Jr. officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Gloria Axelson and vocalist, Marlene Gunderson. Burial will take place at Oak Valley Cemetery, Wrightstown, Woodside Township.
The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
Zella Olive Chase was born November 15, 1920, to Ervin S. and Zoa M. (McGowan) Anderson in Hewitt, Minnesota. She attended country school. She was united in marriage to Harvey Chase July 4, 1936, in Hewitt. Following their marriage they farmed north of Hewitt and raised their daughter, Shirley. Her husband, Harvey died in the 1970s. Following his death, Zella received her GED and learned to drive. She moved to Perham where she worked as a nurses aide at a nursing home. She moved to the State of Washington, in 1977, to be closer to family. While in Tacoma, she worked as a nurses aide at Tacoma General Hospital. Zella played accordion with the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association in Tacoma for 18 years. In the early 1990s, she moved to Columbia Falls, Montana to continue to be closer to family. She belonged to the Columbia Falls Methodist Church and Senior Center in Columbia Falls where she continued to play the accordion. After 13 years, she returned to Minnesota to live with her daughter, before moving to McCornell Courts and eventually St. Williams Living Center in 2007, where she continued to live until the time of her death. Her hobbies included playing the accordion, crocheting, other crafts, gardening, fishing and hunting.
Zella is survived by her daughter, Shirley Lundgren of Alexandria; two grandsons, Lorren (Nanci) Lundgren of Hopkins and Darren Lundgren of Alexandria; great-granddaughter, Asha Lundgren of Hopkins; sister, Marilyn Becker of Thompson Falls, Montana; brother, Ervin (Kay) Anderson, Jr. of Thompson Falls, Montana; sister-in-law, Gerty Chase of Auburn, Washington; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey; two sisters Verna (Harris) Chase and Amelia (Max) Haller ; four brothers, Leslie (Agnes) Anderson, Archie (Doris) Anderson, Morris (Mabel) Anderson and Leo (Ruby) Anderson.
Urnbearer will be her grandson, Darren Lundgren.
