Your Letters: 'Peace be still'
In children's church this Sunday we had a lesson from Mark 4:35-41 where Jesus and His disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus, tired from ministry, was sleeping. A great storm arose; the disciples were terrified and thought they would perish. They woke Jesus up and He rebuked the wind and the sea saying, "Peace be still!" and there was a great calm.
I asked the children who they thought caused the big storm. Would Jesus rebuke His own Father? They thought and one little child, me rightly said, "the devil caused the storm."
We go through many storms in life, but we must remember that Jesus is in the boat with us and He speaks, "Peace be still." And eventually there will be a calm.
Consider that not one life was lost despite the great devastation. All I can do is sit back and be in awe of God's love and protection.
