June Jubilee a huge success
We'd like to express our appreciation to all the individuals and businesses who made the June Jubilee weekend in Wadena so much fun for our family. Two of my grandchildren and I enjoyed the all of the historic carnival events at the Historical Center, the children's petting zoo and games at the Elks and the Sunnybrook Stomp on Friday. On Saturday, we arrived at Sunnybrook Park by 9:30 a.m. where we ate at the pancake Breakfast, then participated in the VFW fishing derby. Fishing rods and reels and bait were all supplied for us, and while we didn't catch any fish, the kids won some terrific door prizes. They played in the bouncy games and at other various games, raced minnows, painted bird houses and created bookmarks. We enjoyed root beer floats and a hotdog lunch and participated in the batting baseball, softball and jump rope challenges. Saturday evening a group of us attended the Miss Wadena pageant and watched the closing fireworks. All the events added up to a weekend of fun. Thanks again to everyone who helped my family create some great memories together in Wadena!

Thanks for the honor given to mom
We wish to thank you, the editor of the Pioneer Journal, the Chamber of Commerce and the people of the Wadena area for the opportunity and honor that you gave Ethelyn Pearson, our mother and grandmother, to serve as Grand Marshall of the Wadena parade, thus representing the Wadena community on June 19.
She enjoyed the event immensely, especially her first ride ever in the Mercedes Benz convertible driven by Lisa Reddick. We as a family also appreciated the very well-written, full-page article featuring her in your newspaper and written by staff writer, Bryce Haugen.
