Your letters: German program looking for host families
The WDC German program is planning to host a group of students from Menden, Germany next fall (2008) for two weeks -- the last week of September and the first week of October.
This is a continuation of a partnership that began in 2004 and has included two visits by WDC students to Menden and one visit by Menden students to Wadena in October 2005. During that visit, we hosted 32 German kids for two weeks in Wadena families. We had a great, exciting time and ended up with new friends and new ideas about the world. Our stays in Menden in 2004 and 2007 allowed us to experience Germany in a way that was much more personal than the typical tourist trip.
This letter is to ask anyone in the Wadena area if they would be interested in hosting a German student or one of the adult chaperones in their home. You do not have to have fancy accommodations or do extravagant activities. The students will likely eat breakfast and lunch at the school. Mostly these kids just want to be a part of your family for two weeks.
If you would like to be part of this, feel free to contact me by phone (631-2150, ext. 192) or e-mail (email@example.com). I think this kind of exchange is important in expanding our horizons and creating a kind of global community that is based on friendships.
