Your Letter: God's Word clear on homosexuality
The recent decision by The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has renewed interest in the controversial issue that concerns the ordination of homosexual individuals.
It is my personal belief that it is not a sin to be heterosexual nor is it a sin to be homosexual. It is not a sin to be what we are, the sin is what we do with what we are. To cheat on one's spouse is the sin of adultery. Living together in a sexual relationship and not being married and perhaps prostitution fall under a broader umbrella referred to as fornication.
Concerning gay sexual relationships, the Word of God has this to say: Leviticus 13:22 and 20:13 "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman, that is detestable."
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done that which is detestable" (NIV)
Romans 1:26-27. Because of this God gave them over to shameful lust, even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandon natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
I Cor. 6:9 "Do you not know that those that participate in homosexuality have no part in the kingdom of God."
It seems to me that in this decision a worldly culture is given preference over God's Holy Word. The creature (mankind) is given more consideration than the creator. Romans 1:25.
This is how I see it.
