On Sunday, Jan. 16, Ellie Miron of Wadena received the Lillian Wright Award for creative writing in the category of Best Writing, Grades 1-3 (in the state of Minnesota) for "Chumley the Show Dog," which she wrote in third grade during a visit from an author residency program. Her work was published in "To Capture the World." The Compas Arts Education Program donated a copy of the publication to her school library along with $100 in honor of Ellie, a WDC fifth-grader, daughter of Rich and Jackie Miron.
