Wondra to visit Deer Creek Legion Auxiliary
Darlene Wondra will be at the Deer Creek American Legion Auxiliary Edward Carlson Unit 283 Christmas party at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29 in the Deer Creek Community Center.
Wondra is a 35-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Montgomery Unit 79. She is eligible for membership through her father Kenneth, a Korean-era Army veteran and her brother Kerry, a veteran of 21-plus years in the Air Force, retiring just a few years ago.
Active on the unit and district levels, Wondra has served most offices including unit president four times and third district president for the 2001-2002 auxiliary year. She has held numerous chairmanships for her Montgomery Unit 79 and the Third District. Wondra has served as the LeSueur County Council secretary for four years.
Wondra has served as department second vice president, first vice president and several chairmanships including national security, children and youth, public relations, unit development and revitalization chairman and committee member. Wondra also served as a member of the Brain Science Foundation.
Darlene and her husband Glenn live on the family farm where she enjoys gardening and hunting. Darlene is the banquet manager at the Montgomery American Legion Post 79. Darlene also enjoys crafts, sewing, singing and loves to travel. Darlene and Glenn have three daughters and a son, five grandsons and one granddaughter.
Wondra considers it a privilege to serve the American Legion Auxiliary as department president this year under the theme Vision and Voices for Veterans, she said.
