Woman runs herself over in downtown Detroit Lakes
A bizarre accident in Detroit Lakes landed one woman in the hospital over the weekend.
It happened at 11:36 a.m. Aug. 16 at Bell State Bank in Detroit Lakes where Elaine Marie Larson, 68, from Laguna Beach, Calif., was run over by her own car in the parking lot.
According to the police report, Larson states she had meant to put the car in park but accidently put it in reverse.
She told police that her foot slipped off the brake, and the vehicle started rolling back.
Being partially out of the vehicle, the woman's foot became stuck between the door, and she was pulled under the vehicle.
Larson was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's hospital; her injuries were not life threatening.
The car also struck a utility box and utility pole in the bank parking lot.
