Casey Materi, who had two of Breck's eight hits, drove in Zack Hegge with the game-winning run in the sixth inning.

Walker Busse and Preston Kappes out-dueled Derrick Rude and Kevin Tumberg in the windy conditions. Busse worked the first four frames and struck out four while surrendering three hits and two walks. Kappes walked two and fanned five in his relief role. The WDC hurlers did not allow an earned run. Rude gave up only one base on balls while striking out seven. Tumberg fanned five and walked two.

Cody Redfield collected an opposite-field homer for the Wolverines. David Najjar doubled and scored a run.

"Rude and Tumberg threw well and it was also nice to see Cody's bat get going," WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said.

Kevin Tumberg fanned 13 and singled in Cory Tumberg with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh Thursday as the Wolverines edged the Bulldogs in the season opener for both clubs.

Cory Tumberg doubled with one down and came around on a two-out opposite field hit by his right-handed hitting older brother.

"Kevin threw a gem with the rest of the team playing solid defense behind him," WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said.

Tumberg scattered four hits and issued two walks as he out-dueled Otter Tail Central's Jeff Hamann, who scattered eight hits and struck out seven.

Tumberg went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and drove in both WDC runs. Ryan Nelson collected a hit and scored a run.
