The Wolverines, who have had trouble scoring this season, hit their first four treys for a quick 12-0 lead. The Wolverines led 46-22 at the midway point.

"Tonight was a fun night for the team," WDC Head Coach Tom VanErp said. "Shots were going in, we played pretty good defense, and really pushed the tempo."

Redfield canned six three-point attempts to lead a record-tying 13 trey effort by the Wolverines. The Wolverines were 13 of 29 from three-point range for a 45 percent clip.

Ben Birch came up with 19 points in the Mid-State Conference victory to go along with 11 rebounds and five blocks.

"Pine River-Backus had no answer for Ben Birch in the post," VanErp said.

Nate Holms led the Tigers with a game-high 27 points and notched a double-double for himself by adding 11 boards. Beau Howard scored 13 points.

The Tigers were just 2 of 13 on their three-point attempts.

Duane Miller canned 24 points as the Thunder rolled past the Wolverines Monday night at Long Prairie.

Miller was backed up by Codys Sprenger's 12 points and Blake Kleinschmidt's 10.

Evan VanErp scored four treys and finished with a team-high 17 points for the Wolverines. Ben Birch scored 12.

The Thunder controlled the boards 45-27. VanErp and Matt Paulson grabbed six rebounds each in the loss.

A strong defensive effort gave the Patriots a convincing 36-point win over Mid-State foe Wadena-Deer Creek Friday in Pequot.

The Pats held WDC's Ryan Redfield, Ben Birch and Evan VanErp to 25 points. VanErp led the Wolverines with 12 tallies.

The Wolverines scored just 20 points in the first half and 15 in the second for their weakest offensive effort in the early season.

Four Pequot players chalked up double figures led by Jordan Redman with 15 and Nevin Greer with 14.

Birch collected seven rebounds as the Wolverines gave the Pats trouble on the boards by grabbing 28 rebounds to Pequot's 31.
