Singles victories by Haley Anderson and Macy Hartman put a dent in Perham's 5-2 tennis victory.

Anderson beat Brita Sundberg 7-5, 6-0 in the No. 2 match while Hartman prevailed over Hannah Brenk 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 3 singles. Eighth-grader Paige Hartman made it hot for Suzanna Coleman at No. 4 singles 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1).

"Haley and Macy played well in picking up straight set victories," WDC head coach Neil Koehler said. "Paige also played extremely well to almost pull out her match. She is improving a lot and has a bright future ahead of her if she sticks with it."

Macy Hartman and Hanna Larson gave the Wolverines a split in singles play but the Thunder swept the doubles for a dual victory Monday.

Hartman topped Eden Faust 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Larson was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Brittani Klemmish at No. 4 singles.

Rynae Nelson and Sarah Holt found themselves in a battle with WDC's Jessica Rinkel and Sam Holweger. The LP-GE pair took the opener 6-3 but Rinkel and Holweger grabbed the second set 7-5. The WDC duo led the third set 2-1 before losing a few key points and the momentum. Nelson and Holt emerged with a 6-2 win.

"We are becoming stronger mentally but we still have a ways to go to reach our full potential before sections," Koehler said.

A sweep of the doubles gave the Panthers their winning edge last Thursday in a victory over the Wolverines.

Andrea Jensen, Macy Hartman and Paige Hartman notched singles victories for WDC. Haley Anderson lost her No. 1 singles match to Breanna Warren 6-0, 6-1.

"The girls competed hard and almost pulled off their first team win," said WDC head coach Neil Koehler.
