Wolverines out-shoot Flyers
Two third period goals lifted Bagley-Fosston to a 3-1 win over Wadena-Deer Creek Thursday night at the Wadena Ice Arena.
The Wolverines out-shot the Flyers 31-25 and were in position to post their first win since 2010 after Bridger Pettit tied the game at 1-all at the 11:04 mark of the second period. Mitchell Swanson gained an assist on the tying goal.
Three different players scored goals for the Flyers, who defeated WDC 6-2 in a Jan. 17 game at Bagley. Cole Gubrud racked up the game's first goal at the 12:24 mark of the opening period with a feed from Aaron Leintz.
It was Leintz that put the Flyers ahead 2-1 at the 3:53 mark of the third period with an unassisted goal. Leintz dished out an assist to Brenton Bergh at the 5:18 mark that iced the win.
Wesley Janson kicked out 22 shot for the Wolverines while Grant Cardinal stopped 30 of the 31 WDC shots he faced.
The Wolverines out-shot the Flyers 26-16 over the final two periods but hurt themselves on the power play by failing to convert on any of their five opportunities.

The Bearcats erupted for five goals in the second period Saturday in topping the Wol
verines at Hallock.
The Wolverines grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period on goal by Mitchell Swanson. After the Bearcats tied the game, Bridger Pettit put WDC up again at the 2:29 mark of the second period. The Bearcats ruled put the game away at from that point with Kyle Petersburg scoring twice and Klegstad, Billy Thorsteinson, Alex Vagle and Devan Schuster icing solo goals.
Tucker Cosley stopped 41 WDC shots in gaining the win. Wesley Jason and Cory McManigle combined to kick out 29 for the Wolverines.

Mitchell Fritz scored a hat trick and Danny Johnston came up with a goal and three assists Thursday as the state-ranked Crusaders trounced the Wolverines.
Mason Freeman and Mitchell Swanson iced goals for the Wolverines. Swanson and Mike Paavola recorded assists.
The Crusaders dominated the puck all three periods of the game and outshot the Wolverines 55-13.
