Wolverines lose slugfest
The Parkers Prairie Panthers exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines 15-11.
WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff threw three pitchers at the Panthers but Derek Denny's outfit hit them all. Cody Redfield went the first four frames while Jake Rude and Kevin Tumberg appeared in relief. Rude was hung with the loss.
The Wolverines were ahead 11-7 in the seesaw game when the roof fell in as 12 Parkers players went to the plate.
Peter Lind went 4-for-4 in the win, scored twice and drove in a run. Trey Thompson collected three hits in four trips, scored twice and drove in a pair. Dan Moske went 2-for-3 with one run and one ribbie.
Redfield and Rude combined for six hits, five runs and two RBIs in the loss. Tumberg went 2-for-2, scored three times and drove in one run.
"We really came out and hit the ball well," Dykhoff said. "Now we just need to put together a solid game offensively and defensively."
Tyler Walsh gained the win for Parkers in relief of Thompson, who pitched the first five.
