Wolverines hand Bears 65-39 loss

Hope Theisen tacked up 17 points as the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines won their fourth straight game Tuesday night on the Bertha-Hewitt court by a 65-39 margin.

Emily Miron added 10 points in the victory, which gave the Wolverines a 15-9 mark.

Bertha-Hewitt's Arei Stokes led all scorers with 20 points.

The loss leaves the Bears with a 10-14 season log.

Emily Miron and Hope Theisen combined for 35 points Monday as the Wolverines rallied to beat the Tigers.

Miron had herself a double-double when she combined 11 rebounds with her 18 points. Theisen was perfect at the foul line going 8-for-8 en route to a 17-point game. Caitlin Volkmann dished out seven assists.

The Wolverines shot 42 percent from the field on their home court. The Tigers made 32.5 percent of their field goal attempts.

Pine River Backus came into the game with a six-game winning string and took a 28-25 lead in the locker room at halftime. It was WDC's turn to shine in the second half as the Wolverines outscored the Tigers 26-18.

"Pine River had been averaging 68 points per game," WDC Head Coach Keith Ferris said. "Holding them to 46 is quite an accomplishment."

Monday's loss was the fourth in 23 games for the Tigers.

Megan Felthous was high pointer for the Tigers with 19 points. Tatum Sheley added 16.
