Avery Jackson collected 14 points, five assists and four steals Tuesday as Wadena-Deer Creek clipped Frazee 54-44.

The Wolverines won for the third time in the last four games and improved their season record to 5-13.

"It was a game of two halves," WDC head coach Brian Silbernick said.

The Wolverines dominated the first half and held a 21-point lead at one point before the Hornets whittled their lead down to 15 points, 36-21. The Hornets won the second half 23-18.

Hannah Toedter canned six of her seven floor shots in a 14-point night. As a team, the Wolverines shot a healthy 48 percent from the floor and canned eight of their 10 free throws for 80 percent.

Emily Miron and Kelsi Crawford combined for 13 rebounds.

Leading the Hornets were Alexis Tappe with 18 points and Ashley Bachmann scored 15.

Steph Miller and Elisa Moenkedick netted 16 points apiece as the Yellowjackets stopped the Wolverines.

Moenkedick tacked up 14 of her game points in the first half as the Yellowjackets built a 29-17 lead.

"We played better in the second half but we never got into any kind of flow offensively, largely due to Perham's pressure man-to-man defense," Silbernick said.

The Yellowjackets played a good defensive game against the Wolverines, who had scored 163 points in winning their previous two outings. The Wolverines shot a cool 32 percent against the Yellowjackets.

"What hurt us and has been a problem throughout the year is our struggle shooting the ball," Silbernick said.

Courtney Volkmann led the Wolverines with nine tallies. Avery Jackson came up with eight. Volkmann combined with Emily Miron, Kelsi Crawford and Hannah Toedter for 21 rebounds.

The loss dropped the Wolverines to 4-15 on the season.
