Wolverines bow to Pioneers
Paige Hartman's victory at No. 3 singles broke up a shutout bid by the Pierz Pioneers Wednesday on the revamped Wadena-Deer Creek courts.
Hartman defeated Emily Seelen 6-3, 6-3.
The WDC courts were badly damaged in the June 17 tornado but were recently repaired.
The Wolverines will host Park Rapids in a 4:30 p.m. contest Tuesday and will entertain Detroit Lakes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

WDC singles players claim victories
All four Wadena-Deer Creek singles players claimed at least one victory in the WDC/Staples-Motley Invitational at Brainerd.
Macy Hartman was a double winner and took third place in the No. 2 singles. Hartman defeated Joni Young of Sartell and Katie Anderson of Detroit Lakes but lost to Sandra Koskiniemi of Staples-Motley.
Haley Anderson posted one victory over West Central Area's Nicole Anderson in No. 1 singles player. Anderson lost to Mikayla Wing of Staples-Motley and Missy Hendrix of New York Mills.
WDC's Paige Hartman lost No. 3 singles matches to Staples-Motley's Abbey Smith and Stewartville's Lydia Bardwell before beating Erin Ruddell of West Central Area.
Molly Barrett opened her No. 4 singles competition by beating Sartell's Elsie Sjogren. Barrett then lost to Stewartville' Gabby Steinhoff and Staples-Motley's Kelsey Zetah.
Hannah Jacobson and Molly Kraemer placed eighth at No. 1 doubles Abby Wegscheid and Ashley Carlson were eighth at No. 2.
