Wolverines bow to Lakers

Callie Butz picked up to pitching victories Tuesday as the Detroit Lakes Lakers topped Wadena-Deer Creek 4-0 and 3-2 in a Mid-State Conference twinbill.

Butz struck out seven, walked three and surrendered only two hits in Game 1. Hanna Inairo went 2-for-2 and scored twice.

Lexie Hoemberg and Kelly DeFoe both singled for WDC.

DeFoe took a no-hitter into the seventh in Game 2 when the Lakers strung together four hits and rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Hahn was brought in to relieve DeFoe and gave up two more hits to suffer the loss. DeFoe walked one and fanned six.

WDC's Leah Dykhoff came up with a pair of hits for the Wolverines and stole two bases.

Staples-Motley 1-3

Steph Hahn hurled a four-hitter and Sam Holweger tripled and drove in two runs Friday as the Wolverines swept a pair from Staples-Motley.

Hahn walked one and fanned five as the Wolverines won the opener 6-4.

Megan Popp went 3-for-3 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Holweger tripled, drew two walks and scored three times. Christina Wolden was 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Lanna Dumpprope went 2-for-2 in the loss and scored once.

Hahn combined with starter Kelly DeFoe to give the Wolverines a 4-3 victory in the nightcap. DeFoe went the first five and gave up only three hits and two walks. Hahn pitched one-hit relief over the last two frames to gain the save.

Holweger came up with her second triple of the day and drove in two runs.

Dumpprope was 1-for-2 and scored twice.
