Detroit Lakes downs WDC

In a physical contest, the Wadena-Deer Creek boys basketball team fell to the Detroit Lakes Lakers at home on Dec. 10, 81 to 56.

Although they played a solid first half, the Wolverines could not overcome the depth of the Lakers line-up, which built a strong margin in the second half for a decisive Mid-State Conference victory.

Wolverines guard Jared Reintiz led the team in scoring with 18 points, while forward Dylan Dumpprope contributed 15. Dumpprope and fellow forward Alex Redfield each snagged three rebounds.

Detroit Lakes players shared scoring duties, with four of them reaching double-digits.

WDC loses to Staples-Motley

A late Wolverines surge was not enough to come from behind last Thursday against a hot-handed visiting Staples-Motley squad, which topped WDC 79 to 67.

Led by Seth Auger and Jalen Busker, who each netted 21 points, the Cardinals shot 52 percent from the field. WDC found the net 46 percent of the time.

With 26 points, Reintiz once again led the Wolverines, while Blake Connell sank 20 points.

Next up, the boys host Hawley tonight and Frazee Friday.
