The winning streak stands at one
We want to congratulate the Wadena-Deer Creek football team for gutting out a victory Wednesday night, snapping a 23-game losing streak.
Certainly every participant in every sport at WDC has put in his or her time, blood, sweat and tears, and sometimes that translates into wins and sometimes that comes up short in a loss.
For the WDC football team, the losing streak became a monkey on their backs. Despite some close football games and great efforts, it's been a long time since they had one in the W column. Consider that monkey excised.
It's special for the seniors, of course, who wanted a chance to walk away winners. They've endured some tough losses over the years, and really had a bit of good luck due to them.
Practice after practice, game after game, they put aside the win-loss record and worked hard to get better and play well. And Wednesday night, that paid off.
It shows perseverance goes a long way. These young men should be proud.
