Winning streak ends at the hands of Pequot

Mattie and Emily Lueck combined for 32 points Friday night as the Pequot Lakes Patriots snapped a six-game winning streak by Wadena-Deer Creek with a 62-43 Mid-State Conference victory.

Kayla Wangen and Kylie Beltz also reached double figures by scoring 11 points apiece as the Patriots locked up the Mid-State Conference title.

The regular season finale for both clubs saw the Wolverines losing for just the second time since Jan. 19. Brian Silbernick's team ended the regular season with a 10-14 mark and a 4-6 record in conference play.

The red-hot Patriots will take a 21-5 record into the first round up South Sub-Section 8AA action Thursday when they once again face the Wolverines in a 7 p.m. home game. The Pats won the Mid-State title with a 9-1 record.

Courtney Volkmann was WDC's scoring leader with 11 tallies. Hannah Toedter, Rachel Craig and Avery Jackson scored eight apiece.
