Wildfire burns property east of Sebeka

Sebeka firefighters work to suppress the blaze near Bunny Hill Road.

A wildfire burned property east of Menahga and Sebeka near Bunny Hill Road by the south end of Huntersville State Forest on Monday.

Sebeka firefighters were paged at about 1:35 p.m., and the ongoing fire calmed by about 3:50 p.m., according to Linda Lilly of the DNR forestry office in Nimrod.

The cloud of smoke from the blaze, just a few weeks after the Easter Sunday Jeep wildfire south of Nimrod, was visible from the north end of the city of Wadena.

See Saturday's issue of the Wadena Pioneer Journal for the full story.
