Wilbur F. Messer
Age 93 of Brooklyn Center, passed away May 15, 2014 at North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale of congestive heart failure. Son of William and Dora Messer, he was born at Staples in Todd County. He had five brothers and five sisters. Wilbur attended country school and Bertha High School. He married the love of his life, Lillian Smith in 1945. Wilbur served in the Army, was manager of Monarch Ice Cream for 31 years and then worked for Graham Refrigeration for 12 years before retiring in 1987. At that time, he and Lillian moved to Minneapolis to be nearer to their children and grandchildren. Wilbur was a member of the Brooklyn United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by grandson, Christian Messer. In addition to Lillian, he will be greatly missed by daughters Sandra Messer of Mound MN and Deborah (Dave) Peterka of Shorewood MN; sons Bruce (Michelle) of Andover MN and Robert (Paula) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 2 sisters; and many relatives and friends.
