Weather Service asks for tornado stories, pictures
The National Weather Service is calling for stories and pictures from the June 17 tornado outbreak.
The Grand Forks, Duluth and Twin Cities offices of the NWS are putting together a collaborative web page to commemorate one year since the storms.
Those who would like to share stories and photos from the Wadena and east Otter Tail County EF4 tornadoes may e-mail them to the Grand Forks office at firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate whether or not they can be used in the new web page.
According to the news release from the National Weather Service, the June 17 outbreak was Minnesota's deadliest tornado day in more than 30 years with three fatalities. With multiple EF4 tornadoes, it was the first day since 1967 to see so many tornadoes of this violent magnitude in Minnesota. There were a total of 74 tornadoes including 48 in Minnesota, breaking the record for the most tornadoes in a single day.
