Wadena-Deer Creek students in Brian Maki's U.S. History class recently participated in the Voice of Democracy essay program, which asked students to answer this question: "Is there pride in serving in our military?"

This was a class assignment for all U.S. History students in Maki's classes. Those who wanted to enter their essay into the Voice of Democracy contest could. Students then recorded their 3- to 5-minute reading of the draft to a CD. Once they recorded their essay onto a CD, this along with their essay, was submitted to LaVonne Piepkorn of the Wadena VFW Auxiliary.
