Student representatives Henry Arrigoni, Jacob Goeden, Brianna Taggart and Katelyn Windels were selected for this honor when their names were drawn out of the pool of band and choir students.

The student representatives are excited and honored to present this special wreath on behalf of the VFW, the community and the school.

About 75 band/choir students departed on Monday at 8 a.m. by charter bus, arriving in Washington, D.C., Tuesday. The band and choir were set to perform Tuesday at the Newseum; Wednesday at Mount Vernon; and Thursday at the Old Post Office Stage and at the World War II Memorial. Students return to Wadena on April 6.

Students will tour the major monuments and sites around the Washington, D.C. area, including the Smithsonian, the new Martin Luther King Memorial, Ford Theater, and the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

WDC band director Lisa Weniger and choir director Mike Ortmann extend their appreciation to parents, the community and friends of WDC for their support of the music programs. Students earned money for the trip organizing fundraisers.
