WDC splits doubleheader with Pequot Lakes
Kyle Dykhoff saw his Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines split their third Mid-State Conference doubleheader in a row Tuesday at Pequot Lakes.
Zach Logan went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the host Patriots collected a come-from-behind 7-6, eight-inning victory in Game 1.
Derrick Rude and David Najjar both went 3-for-4 in the loss. Jake Rude went 2-for-3.
Jake and Derrick Rude, Kenny Sakry, Christian Berg and Cory Tumberg all came up with two hits as the Wolverines won the second game 8-5.
Najjar went the distance on the hill striking out seven while walking three and giving up 10 hits.
Nick Linder, Nathan Olson and Aspen Florey all had two hits in the loss.
The Wolverines are 4-5 on the season.

Park Rapids 11-8
The Wolverines rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh last Thursday to upset Park Rapids and earn a split in their Mid-State Conference doubleheader.
A four-run uprising in the top of the seventh in Game 1 had put Park Rapids ahead 11-10.
Derrick Rude went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs and three RBIs. Jake Rude was also perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and three runs. Ryan Redfield and Colter Pettit combined for three hits, three runs and two RBIs.
Danny Pike paced Park Rapids at the plate with three hits. Kyle Goplerud went 2-for-4 and scored three times.
Pettit picked up the win in relief.
The Panthers were took Game 2 with a five-run seventh inning.
Pike and Levi Erickson combined for four hits and three runs. Redfield, Jake Rude and Jake Krause collected two hits each in the loss and combined for three RBIs. All three WDC ballplayers doubled.
Pettit went all the way on the hill for the Wolverines while Erickson pitched a complete game for the Panthers.
The Wolverines committed five errors in both games.
"We struggled to close out both games," WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said. "We need to find a way to shut the door. If we can play solid defense we can be a great team, until then we are average."
