This is the third year WDC Schools have been awarded this grant. The Minnesota Department of Education administers the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program (FFVP) through a federal grant. The program provides children with a variety of fresh fruit and vegetable snacks during the school day at no cost.

"During the school year, WDC students get a fresh fruit or vegetable each day in addition to their lunch and breakfast," said Sandie Rentz, food service director, who applied for the grant.

WDC partners with Russ Davis Wholesale of Wadena to provide fruits and vegetables. They also provide nutritional information and recipes.
