JC Penney's Store in Alexandria served as the team's corporate sponsor, donating $6,000, which allowed the WDC team to purchase their robotics kit.

Finishing an impressive 15th out of 41 teams, the WDC Terminators were awarded the Rookie Inspiration Award and the Highest Rookie Seed Award at their first-ever Robotics Lake Superior Regional competition held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center this spring. WDC competed against schools of all sizes from Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

WDC Robotics Team Coordinator Ann Pate was on hand for the presentation and expressed appreciation toward JC Penney's generous donation.

"Without their corporate sponsorship, we would not have been able to start the robotics program at WDC this year," said Pate. "We had a tremendous first season and the team is excited to build another robot next year."

After the presentation, the WDC Robotics team spent two hours demonstrating their robot and answering questions from curious mall shoppers at Viking Plaza in Alexandria.
