WDC National Honor Society organizes blood drive for students, staff
Wadena-Deer Creek High School's National Honor Society (NHS) held a blood drive Thursday, March 8, where students and staff donated blood to help save lives.
According to NHS member Breanna Speed, who coordinated the blood drive as her community project, NHS had a great response with more than 40 students and staff giving blood.
"Many of our donors were students, so I was pleased to see our students step up and donate," said Speed, a WDC senior.
The American Red Cross set up their mobile site in the Auditorium Gym at WDC Elementary, taking donations throughout the school day. The WDC NHS is made up of juniors and seniors. Rachel Bounds serves as NHS advisor.
NHS is an organization at WDC that recognizes honor-roll students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. NHS also challenges students to develop further active involvement in school activities and community service.
