The Cardinals were 14 of 26 from 3-point range.

"It's hard to shot a team that shots 53 percent behind the arc," Wadena-Deer Creek Head Coach Keith Ferris said.

The Cardinals led by eight at halftime, 35-27, and out-scored the Wolverines 37-21 over the second half.

"You could tell we ran out of gas in the second half," Ferris said.

Kyann Nyhus and Kelly Pearson led the Cardinals with 18 and 11 points respectively.

Caitlin Volkmann had the only double figure night for WDC with 19 points. The Cards limited inside threat Emily Miron to nine points and outside threat Hope Theisen to eight.

Miron combined with Melissa Moenkedick to pull down 14 rebounds for WDC. Theisen dished out five assists.

The loss dropped the Wolverines to 1-2 while evening Staples-Motley's record at 2-2.

WDC hosts Detroit Lakes on Tuesday in another Mid-State contest. The Wolverines entertain Hawley on Friday.
