WDC fund balance increases by estimated $700k
Business manager Jerry Anderson informed the Wadena-Deer Creek School Board of an estimated $700,000 increase in the general fund balance during the 2010-2011 school year at Monday night's regularly-scheduled meeting in the Elementary Media Center.
Anderson said the savings resulted mainly from the fact that the district did not have a secondary school to provide heat or electricity for during the school year. Junior high classes have been taught in Deer Creek for the past two school years while senior high classes are being held in a wing of the M State-Wadena campus.
Anderson also informed the board that expenditures were 97 percent of budget.
A 2011-2012 budget will be presented to the board at the October meeting for final acceptance. The preliminary budget was presented to the board in June.
