WDC FFA members attend region leadership
FFA members Jodana Albers, Caleb Monson and Nicholas Schmitz attended FFA Region II Leadership activities held at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
Nineteen FFA chapters from the northeast corner of Minnesota participated in leadership activities and contests. These contests are known as Career Development Events or CDEs. CDEs included Creed Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure, Farm Bureau Discussion Meet, Sales, and Farm Business Management.
Jodana Albers participated in the Creed Speaking CDE placing fifth. FFA members participating in the Creed CDE were judged on reciting the FFA Creed. Voice, stage presence, power of expression, and general effect were judged. FFA members were also given five minutes to respond to questions on the creed asked by judges.
All three FFA members participated in the leadership workshops given by Region II FFA officers. These workshops included recruitment, opportunities in the FFA, scholarships, and running meetings.
Wadena radio broadcaster/farmer/former legislator, Dan Skogen, along with Urban Otremba, Little Falls city councilman, judged Prepared Public Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking CDEs. Richard Muckala serves as advisor to the WDC FFA chapter.
