WDC Education Foundation raises more than $450
The Wadena-Deer Creek Education Foundation raised more than $450 during a freewill offering fundraiser to benefit the WDC Elementary Band program. The fundraiser was held after the 5-8 grade band and 7-8 grade choir concert.
Serving a variety of bars and refreshments, the WDC Foundation was pleased to see the Elementary Cafeteria tables filled with parents, grandparents and families, who enjoyed an evening of music.
WDC Education Foundation president Sue Ann Lind was pleased with such wonderful community support of Wadena-Deer Creek Schools' music programs.
"It was great to see so many people stay and enjoy themselves following excellent band and choir performances by our talented WDC students," Lind said. She was also appreciative of the generosity of those donating to the freewill offering after the concert.
In 2007, the Wadena-Deer Creek Education Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to offer funding for activities that enrich the educational experience of WDC students.
In past years, the WDC Foundation has awarded smaller grants to support a variety of educational activities. The Foundation is focusing on building the fifth-grade band program and the marching band. These programs were abandoned in the past due to budget cuts.
