Walk-off homer sinks Braves' hopes
Detroit Lakes' Phil Kirchner parked a three-run walk-off homer in the ninth inning Saturday as Detroit Lakes defeated Bluffton 10-9 in Hi-10 League playoff action.
The Braves scored at least once in four of the first five innings for an 8-3 lead over the second-ranked Angels. Marc Sweere's solo shot in the eighth sent Bluffton into the ninth with a 9-7 lead.
Kirk Beebout and Chris Gilson set the table for Kirchner and after Taylor Fuhs popped out, Kirchner took Bluffton's Kyle Dykhoff over the fence.
Kurt Mursu and Marc Sweere came up with two ribbies each for Bluffton. Josh Sweere led the Braves with three hits.
"It was a tough loss," Bluffton skipper Terry Geiser said. "A lot of heads were hanging after the game."
