Wadena man charged with four felony offenses
Christopher Joseph Cotten, a 39-year-old Wadena man, was charged with four felony offenses in district court last Friday after being stopped by the Minnesota State Patrol just inside the city limits of Wadena.
According to Wadena Chief of Police Naomi Plautz, agents of the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force were observing the vehicle traveling westward on Highway 10. A search warrant had already been obtained.
Cotten, the driver, who was in the company of another man, was detained while a K-9 unit assisted in a search of the vehicle.
Cotten was found to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana and taken to the Wadena County Jail where he was held on criminal charges.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at Cotten’s home. Found inside the home was drug paraphernalia, a six-shot revolver, a .22 caliber pistol, ammunition for a 20-gauge shotgun and a 9 millimeter handgun and a quantity of methamphetamine/MDM (Ecstasy).
Cotten is charged with third degree controlled substance-possession of cocaine, fifth degree possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of a pistol/assault weapon after conviction of a crime of violence.
The drug task force was assisted by the Wadena Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
