Wadena-Deer Creek BPA completes fall projects for children, soldiers
During the past few weeks, members of Wadena-Deer Creek Business Professionals of America have been collecting toys at the elementary school for the Wadena Empty Stocking Fund and items for soldiers overseas at the high school for the Support the Troops project.
This year, BPA collected close to 600 toys for Empty Stocking and 700 items to be shipped overseas to service men and women. Heading each of the committees were BPA members Molly Barrett (toys) and Nikki Miller (troops).
"They, along with their committee members, put in many hours of organizing, collecting, sorting and delivering these items," said Sandy Bain, BPA advisor.
Norm Gallant's sixth-grade class and Lynette Finnern's third-grade class were the winners of the Toys-For-Tots drive, receiving cookies and milk from the BPA members. At the high school, Sandy Bain's class was third, Rachel Bounds class was second, and Cindi Koll's class was first place in collecting items for Support the Troops.
