Wad of Fun '08 set to start
Wad of Fun, the annual summer promotion for Wadena, will kick off June 19 with the annual breakfast, steak fry and parade.
The Town and Country Breakfast is from 7:30-10:30 a.m. that morning at Burlington Northern Park. The breakfast is free with the purchase of a Wad of Fun button, which is available at the park. Later in the day is the Wadena Veteran's of Foreign Wars annual steak fry from 4-6:30 p.m., parade through town at 7 p.m. and Colgate Country Showdown semi-finals immediately following the parade (about 8:30 p.m.).
So far, 50 businesses have donated to the Wad of Fun promotion, said Shirley Uselman, Wadena Area Chamber of Commerce executive director. If more businesses want to join and be included in the promotion, call Uselman at (218) 632-7704. Also, she is looking for helpers to line up the parade in the late afternoon on June 19. There is still time to enter the parade, she said. Entry forms are available at the chamber office.
Uselman wants to emphasize that the first drawing for prizes will be June 26. Boxes with entry forms will be placed at participating businesses the week before. Weekly drawings with prizes from participating businesses will continue every Thursday through the end of August, 10 drawings in all.
A grand prize will be given out at the Sept. 13 Firefighters Rodeo. This year, the grand prize is a car.
