Facing off in a South Sub-Section 8AA playoff game just six days after a regular season finale in Wadena, the Vikings jumped on the seventh-seeded Wolverines in the first inning for all 13 of their runs. Coming up with two-run shots were Eric Shulstad, Brian Guler, Matt Skow-Anderson and Andrew Sorum. Brady Morgan hit a solo home run.

The Vikings sent 18 batters to the plate in their big first inning and collected 12 of their 13 hits off three Wadena-Deer Creek pitchers. Jan-Erik Lindberg had three hits for the second-seeded Vikings. Shulstad went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Tyler Wohlwend, Gannon George and Dean Harrison collected hits for WDC. The Wolverines broke up the shutout in the fifth on a fielder's choice.

"I was really proud of how this group of kids continued to play had right to the end of the season," WDC head coach Kyle Dykhoff said.

Kevin Tumberg took the loss while Shulstad picked up the win.

The Wolverines ended their season with a 5-14 mark.

Tumberg and Hagen were named Mid-State All-Conference players. Tumberg was 3-3 with a 3.65 earned run average on the mound. He also hit .375 and scored a team-high 16 runs. Hagen hit the ball at a .382 clip.

All-Conference honorable mention went to Wohlwend, Ryan Nelson and Josh Sweere. Wohlwend hit .333, Nelson swung a .500 bat and Sweere hit .375 with a team-high 14 RBIs.
