Perennial powerhouse Otter Tail Central took both ends of a doubleheader from Verndale Tuesday on the Pirates' diamond.
The Bulldogs won the opener 9-5 behind a 13-hit attack that was helped along by six Verndale errors.
Lindsay Nelson went 3-for-3, scored four times and drove in three runs in her lead-off position. Rosie Johnson went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. The Pirates were held to five hits by Malmstrom who walked four and fanned 11.
Jordy Schluttner drove in three runs while Kristen Korfe and Jenny Swenson drove in one apiece for the Pirates. Schluttner and Swenson joined Teresa Moenkedick, Elizabeth Johnson and Lizzy Yungbauer in collecting solo hits.
The Pirates pushed Eric Olson's OTC crew to the wall in the second game before falling 5-2. Shaina Underhill supported her pitching effort with two RBIs.
Swenson took the pitching losses in both games. She gave up just one walk in the two games while fanning six.
