Verndale girls topple Pillager 73-32

Nine players contributed to the scoring as the Verndale Pirates parlayed a strong press into a 73-32 victory over Pillager Friday.

"Early in the game we pressed and we were able to force a lot of turnovers," Verndale Head Coach Art Schluttner said.

Halftime found the Pirates leading 44-18.

Teresa Moenkedick paced the Pirates with 23 points while Kirstin Korfe scored 14 and Jordyn Glenz netted 10. The Pirates converted on 28 of their 50 floor shots for a red-shot 56 percent.

Lacy Hiltner led the Huskies with 11 points.

Glenz and Jordy Schluttner led the Pirates with nine rebounds apiece.

The victory gave the Pirates a 10-13 season record.
