The funeral service for Vera Roedel, a resident of the Elders Home in New York Mills and formerly of Wadena, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Johnson-Sculler Chapel in Wadena. At age 93, Vera passed away very peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Elders Home in New York Mills, where she had resided for two & a half years.
Vera was born to Gottfried and Lydia (Gross) Miller on May 6, 1921 in Kulm, ND. She married Arthur "Art" Roedel on October 8, 1940. They farmed in Ashley ND until 1950 when they moved to Wadena, MN. The Wadena community may remember her as a dental assistant for over 34 years in Dr. Vincent Jarnots office. After retiring she was a "baby sitter" for several, now fine adults. She was an active member in the Seventh Day Adventist Church affairs, well into her 80s.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband Arthur; and parents Gottfried and Lydia.
She is survived by daughters Roberta Thomas of Phoenix, AZ and Norma Watts of Aurora, CO; grandsons Brian Heiser and Kurt (Nancy) Heiser; and great-grandchildren Brenden & Paul and Sarah & Lauren.
Burial will be next to her husband in Wadena Cemetery.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to a lunch being served at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 14711 125th Ave., east of Wadena.
